Girl Scout

  Girl Scout was founded during 1940-05-26 by Pilar Hidalgo-Lim and Josefa Llanes Escoda. With its Chief Girl Scout Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.  The American missionaries and also the servicemen organized the girl scouts in the Philippines around 1918. Those, whose names are Pilar Hidalgo-Lim and Josefa Llanes Escoda, requested the boy scouts to assist movements for the girl scouts. In the year 1939 a lady named Mrs. Escoda went off to the U.S and of course Britain to have some training with the help of a boy scout named Joseph E. Stevenot. Outstandingly, Act No. 542 became the Girl Scout Philippines on May 26, 1940 and then was accepted as a member of a world association of girl guides in 1946. According to that association, Girl Scout was divided into five sections: Twinkler, Star, Junior Girl Scout, Senior Girl Scout, Cadet Girl Scout.
Helena Z Benitez National Program and Training Center in Tagaytay City is  3,729 square meter lot. This condition was given by the city government, to construct a building within six months.
The Center presently has two building: an administration building which houses the office and a dormitory, a conference room and can sit 60 people comfortably, a dining room and kitchen and 24 bed dormitory. the total capacity of the dormitories and bedrooms is 65.
This is located in Tagaytay along Calamba Road Sungay East.
 

Pilar Hidalgo-Lim

Graduated from the University of the Philippines as Bachelor of Arts, she was also active in civic affairs. Pilar became a mathematical instructor in UP and Centro Escolar . Also became the president of the National Federation of women's clubs. Her husband is the World War II hero named Lt. Vicente Lim.

Josefa Llanes Escoda

Went to Philippine Normal School to get her teaching degree. While working as a teacher, she got a certificate from the University of the Philippines in 1992. And when going to the US, she met a guy who became her husband, named Antonio Escoda. After having to train for girl scouting that was sponsored by the boy scout, she decided to train young women in private and public schools to become girl scout leaders.
